IT Infrastructure & Cybersecurity

We run the foundation your business sits on, and the security around all of it, so it stays up, stays defended, and stops being something you have to think about.

01 / Overview

Your systems stay up. Your business keeps moving.

For organisations of every size: start as small as an open-source proof, and grow as far as the problem goes.

02 / Off your desk

What we take off your desk

The problems we hear most often from the people who run IT and security. Why us, below, is how we take them.

  1. 01

Choosing between five vendors who all claim to be best, with no way to judge.

  2. 02

Paying enterprise prices for features you’ll never use.

  3. 03

Staffing and justifying a 24/7 operation on your own.

  4. 04

A set of tools that were each bought well and don’t work together.

  5. 05

The 3am call, when something breaks and nobody knows whose layer it is.

03 / Why us

Why us

Everyone in this market can resell the same hardware and software. What differs is who helps you choose it, who designs it, who runs it, and whose side they are on.

  • 01

    We’ve seen it before.

Hundreds of clients, many industries, 59 countries. Your team knows your systems deeply; we know many systems well enough to see what is coming.

    450+ clients
  • 02

A bench too deep to hire alone.

Specialists across dozens of technologies and backgrounds, and an operation shared across clients, so the cost works for each of them.

    150+ engineers
  • 03

    Neutral by design.

We start with your goal and a few scenarios with rough prices, then choose the vendor that fits. We are open with our vendors about how we work. Nobody gets played behind their back.

2+ certified vendors in every layer
  • 04

    Tested on ourselves first.

We run what we sell, often before we need it, and pay to try the alternatives. One example of many: Wi-Fi 7 with OpenRoaming in our own office, where we study real devices and real problems to get the most out of it before a client has to.

Our office is the first site
  • 05

    Built to be run.

We operate what we build, so we design for three in the morning, not for the handover.

    Our own operations platform
  • 06

    Led by engineers.

An engineering company: a community of engineers, mentors and academy graduates who share what they learn across every client. An engineer is at the table from the first conversation.

Leads with 10+ years with us
04 / Where we come from

Where we come from

  • 01

We started in 2001, building telecom networks, where an outage reaches millions of people. That made us obsessive about quality and detail: every change with a design, a method, a way back and a test.

  • 02

Carrier-grade used to mean carrier prices. Years of work with organisations of every size taught us to keep the discipline and lose the cost: right-sized designs, open source where it does the job, and an operation shared across clients.

  • 03

From 2012 we added one layer at a time; today we cover the whole stack, with more than 100 technology partners, and that is what lets us stay neutral. We look for the best engineers in every market we work in, and we grow our own: graduates of the Enlayer Academy join teams led by senior engineers who mentor them.

05 / From the socket to the cloud

From the socket to the cloud

We start with the room and the cables, and go all the way to the cloud and the team that runs it. One partner, every layer, and the joins between them.

IT, layer by layer: eight layers from Physical to Operations, with security standing beside every layerSECURITY · AT EVERY LAYERPhysicalEndpointAccessEdgeData centreCloudCollaborationOperations
Fig. 1 — IT, layer by layer · NTS
01

Physical

The base for every layer, built to be supported.

  • Structured cabling, in the building and the rack
  • Power, cooling and air conditioning
  • Fire detection and suppression, environmental monitoring
  • Access control for the data centre
  • Field work for every layer above

A rack should look like a pharmacy: labelled, placed and built for the people who support it. One client brings us in for this work as far as South America.

02

Endpoint

Every device people use, managed and protected.

  • Windows, macOS and Linux, or a mix
  • Developer workstations, up to NVIDIA DGX for model development
  • Mobile and endpoint device management
  • Patch management, on a schedule for every device
  • Detection and response (EDR, XDR)
  • Managed and secured printing, with partners
03

Access

Switches, Wi-Fi and the identity behind them.

  • Switching: bandwidth, quality of service, security
  • Wi-Fi: radio planning, OpenRoaming, captive portals
  • Network access control, MAC-based authentication
  • IoT networks: Zigbee, Z-Wave, Thread, LoRaWAN
04

Edge

Where your network meets the world.

  • Next-generation firewalls
  • Routing and switching
  • Zero-trust network access
  • DDoS protection, with scrubbing centres local or in the cloud
05

Data centre

From the edge to the workloads.

  • Web application firewalls and load balancers
  • Software-defined and multi-tenant networking
  • Block, file, object and software-defined storage
  • Compute, including high-performance computing
  • Open-source and commercial hypervisors
  • Operating systems and container platforms (Kubernetes, OpenShift)
  • Backup: active-active, disaster recovery, immutable copies, agreed RTO and RPO
06

Cloud

IaaS, PaaS and SaaS: we use all three.

  • Compute, storage and backup in the cloud
  • GPU as a service, from hyperscalers and GPU specialists
  • Hybrid, with the hyperscalers' platforms on your premises
  • Your data encrypted at rest and in motion, and protected while it is computed, on the GPU too, with NVIDIA technology
  • FinOps: what the cloud costs, kept in check
  • Private clouds on your premises, with their own orchestration and monitoring

The cloud is a decision, not a goal: we make it with you on needs, regulation and price, local against public.

07

Collaboration

Everyone has it now; the details make it easy.

  • Microsoft Teams and Cisco Webex
  • Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace: working with partners, securely
  • Video conferencing
  • Contact centres and their integration
  • Meeting rooms designed for acoustics, light, microphones and speakers

We know it down to the telecom underneath: IP telephony, SS7, softswitches.

08

Operations

The NOC and the SOC: one operation, 24/7.

  • NOC: monitoring and the fix, by a separate operations division of 80+ engineers who chose support
  • SOC: threat hunting, security posture and the attack vectors; the SOC hands the fix to the NOC
  • Our tools are open source, tuned and rewritten by us
  • AI operations: predictive maintenance, with people deciding
  • ServiceNow, joining our process with vendors, partners and clients
  • A separate IT service management team: incident, change, problem and configuration management

An engineer is an engineer: everyone here can run operations, build and advise, and the whole organisation joins in when it is needed. Our process and coaching are built for it.

Beside every layer

Security

Beside every layer, not on top of one.

  • Hardened configuration of every device
  • Telemetry and logs, collected in one place
  • Correlation engines, with AI
  • Password and privileged access management
  • Data leakage prevention
  • HSM and PKI
  • CASB
  • OT security, with Nozomi Networks
  • SOAR: the response, run to a plan

Much of it is built for the client, beyond the products.

Move over or tap a layer to see what we do there.

Four technology groups

Our practice works in four technology groups, each with its technology lead. Our NOC and SOC run all four.

Fig. 2 — Four technology groups · NTS
PhysicalAccessData centreCloudOperationsEVERY JOIN · OURS TOO
Fig. 3 — The joins · NTS

Most failures happen at the joins

Where one supplier’s part ends and the next one begins. We work on both sides of every join, so the joins are ours too.

06 / Then we run it

Then we run it

A project defines it. A good implementation builds it right. But operations is where you lose real money if it stops.

  1. 24/7/365, our own

Our own NOC and SOC in Sofia, run by a separate operations division of 80+ people, with the whole organisation behind it when needed. The SOC finds the attack, the NOC carries out the fix.

  2. Process you can audit

IT service management run to ISO/IEC 20000-1 on ServiceNow, by a team of its own: incidents, changes and problems logged, owned and closed.

  3. Engineers with AI

Frontier AI in every engineer’s hands, and on-premises models where the data is sensitive. Our operations platform is our own, built on open source.

07 / How we work

How we work

If

you know what you need

We price it as well as anyone. And if a different size or option would save you money, we say so. Right-sizing is where knowing the technology pays: guess, and you oversize.

If

you know your goals, not the path

A doctor doesn’t prescribe from the waiting room. We take two to three weeks to see what is really happening, then give you a roadmap: the steps, what else needs investing in, and a rough budget. You choose the first project, with us or with someone else.

If

you’ll build it yourself

Your team can implement it; what it often lacks is the view across many vendors and many clients. We help you choose: an independent comparison, including open source, scenarios with rough prices, and a clear recommendation for your case. You build it, and we stay a call away.

Then

we deliver it the same way every time

PMP-certified project managers and ITIL-certified service delivery managers. Every change with a design, a method, a rollback plan and an acceptance test. One quality bar on every engagement.

11 / Everything we do

Everything we do

What we do in each area, for those who want the detail. It is not the whole list: technology moves, and so do we. If you don’t see something, ask us.

On vendors. The names below are examples, and the list changes all the time. A vendor left out is not a choice: if we partner with them, we most likely already do this work with them; if we do not, and it is the right vendor for you, we are willing to invest and learn it. Technology is technology: an engineer who knows one vendor learns the next fast.

What do you do in networking?
  • Carrier networks (Service-provider networks) Where we started, helping an incumbent operator move from analogue straight to IP. Today we support operator networks and provide field, provisioning and commissioning services.
  • Campus and branch LAN (Local area network) We design, build and run it with Cisco, our deepest partner, and with Arista, HPE, Ubiquiti, MikroTik or open-source solutions when that is what fits the client. Also as a service, with the hardware included.
  • Enterprise Wi-Fi (Wireless LAN) Predictive design, on-site surveys, installation and operation, up to Wi-Fi 7 with OpenRoaming. We have run the Wi-Fi at Battersea Power Station since 2016.
  • SD-WAN (Software-defined wide area network) Design, migration from legacy WAN and VPN, and operation from our NOC.
  • Data centre networking (Data centre fabric) Fabric design and build, network virtualisation, and the connections into Azure and Google Cloud.
  • DDI (DNS, DHCP and IP address management) Design and migration to managed DDI, with Infoblox among our partners, and DNS security alongside it.
  • Network and infrastructure automation (Infrastructure as code) Automation is part of how we deliver. We hand it over to client teams that want to run it themselves.
  • Converged building networks (Smart buildings) 60+ smart buildings across Europe, among them 22 Bishopsgate, 150 Holborn, Battersea Power Station, Co-op Live and Twickenham. Enlayer UK is a founder member of the Intelligent Ready Building consortium, with Cisco, Schneider Electric and Para.
  • Structured cabling (Copper and fibre) Delivered with specialist partners. We own the design, the result and the final commissioning.
What do you do in the data centre?
  • Compute (Servers) Sizing, supply, installation and lifecycle, with Dell Technologies (Titanium Partner), Cisco, HPE and Lenovo, among others.
  • Virtualisation (Hypervisors) VMware, Nutanix, Proxmox and open-source KVM, so we can price a move as honestly as a renewal.
  • Hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) Nutanix and other platforms, designed, built and supported.
  • Storage (Block, file and object) Design, migration and support, on site and in the cloud, including software-defined storage. Partners include Dell Technologies, IBM, Pure Storage, HPE and Fujitsu.
  • Operating systems and directory (Windows Server, Linux, Active Directory) Microsoft infrastructure from domain controllers to file servers, Linux including Red Hat (Advanced Partner), and the move to hybrid identity.
  • Server rooms and data centre facilities (The room) Design and build of server rooms and small data centres, with specialist partners for power and cooling.
What do you do for backup and recovery?
  • Backup and recovery Design, operation and tested restores. Veeam (Gold Reseller, Silver VCSP), Commvault and other platforms.
  • Immutable backup (Ransomware-proof copies) Immutable and isolated copies are standard in our designs.
  • Business continuity and disaster recovery (BC/DR, RTO and RPO) Business impact analysis, recovery design and regular tests, built to ISO 22301, the standard we are certified against ourselves.
  • High availability (Active-active and active-standby) Active-active and active-standby designs across data centres and the cloud.
What do you do in the cloud?
  • Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace (Software as a service) Migration, set-up and support, including Entra ID, Defender and Purview, and hybrid set-ups with on-premises Exchange and Active Directory. Microsoft Cloud Solution Provider; Google Cloud Select Tier partner.
  • Azure and Google Cloud (IaaS and PaaS) Design, migration and support for infrastructure, and advice on platform services for development teams.
  • Private and hybrid cloud Built on VMware, Nutanix, Proxmox, Red Hat OpenShift and other platforms, and run as a service where you want it: compute, storage and backup.
  • Landing zones and cloud migration Assessment, landing-zone build and migration in waves, with a rollback plan for each wave.
  • FinOps (Cloud cost management) Cost reviews, rightsizing and reserved capacity, as a service or as a one-off review.
  • Containers and Kubernetes (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Rancher, K3s) We build and run the platform; AI & Software Engineering builds what runs on it.
  • GPU and high-performance computing (HPC) Design and build of GPU infrastructure, from the rack to the cluster network. Registered NVIDIA networking partner.
  • Edge compute Edge platforms built and run as part of the stack. Advanced OT Solutions owns the plant-floor applications that run on them.
What do you do for the workplace?
  • Endpoint management (Intune and Workspace ONE) Microsoft Intune and Omnissa Workspace ONE (Platinum Partner).
  • Virtual desktops (VDI and desktop as a service) Omnissa Horizon, Citrix and Azure Virtual Desktop.
  • IP telephony (Voice over IP) Where our enterprise work began, alongside networking, with Cisco.
  • Video and meeting rooms (Collaboration) Design, fit-out and support.
  • Contact centres Design, build and support.
What do you do in cybersecurity?
  • Next-generation firewalls (NGFW) Cisco, Palo Alto Networks, Check Point and Fortinet, among others. Rule reviews are part of the work, because old rules pile up.
  • Web application firewalls, load balancing and DDoS protection (WAF, ADC and DDoS) F5 (Gold Partner), Cloudflare and NetScout Arbor, plus DNS security.
  • SASE and SSE (ZTNA, SWG and CASB) Design and rollout with Cisco, Cloudflare, Palo Alto Networks, Microsoft, Fortinet and Zscaler (Premier Partner), tied to the identity and device checks they depend on.
  • Email security Proofpoint (Core Partner), Cisco and Microsoft Defender.
  • Identity and access management (IAM and IGA) Directories, single sign-on, identity governance and the move to hybrid identity.
  • Privileged access management (PAM) CyberArk (Certified Partner) and BeyondTrust, and Silverfort, which protects privileged accounts from inside the identity infrastructure.
  • Multi-factor and passwordless sign-in (MFA) Rollouts people actually accept, phishing-resistant where it matters.
  • Network access control (NAC and 802.1X) Cisco ISE or open-source network access control, with 802.1X, deployed together with the campus network.
  • Identity threat detection and response (ITDR) Detection on Active Directory and Entra ID, connected to our SOC.
  • PKI and hardware security modules (PKI and HSM) PKI design and operation, and HSMs with Thales and Entrust.
  • Data loss prevention and encryption (DLP) Microsoft Purview, Forcepoint, Symantec and encryption platforms.
  • Endpoint detection and response (EDR and XDR) CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, Palo Alto Networks, Microsoft Defender and Trellix, watched by our SOC.
  • Cloud security posture (CSPM and CNAPP) Posture assessments and ongoing monitoring in Azure and Google Cloud.
  • Application and API security (DevSecOps) Code and component scanning, API protection, and security built into delivery pipelines with our AI & Software Engineering practice.
  • OT security (Industrial cybersecurity) Asset discovery and monitoring with Nozomi Networks, segmentation, and SOC coverage. The OT systems themselves are Advanced OT Solutions’ work.
  • Penetration testing (Offensive security) A dedicated offensive security team covering networks, applications and cloud.
  • Vulnerability management Scanning with Qualys, Tenable and Rapid7, matched to what you really run, with the fixes carried out by our NOC.
  • Deception (Honeypots and deception grids) Deception grids with SentinelOne and TrapX.
  • Security awareness (Phishing simulation) Programmes with SoSafe and Proofpoint.
  • Secrets management (Credential vaults) Vault platforms from HashiCorp and open-source alternatives, designed and run.
  • Post-quantum cryptography (PQC) We are building this capability now: finding where cryptography is used, and planning the move, starting with certificates and keys.
  • Zero trust Built into our designs through identity, device checks, segmentation and ZTNA.
  • Network segmentation (Microsegmentation) Designed into networks and data centres, and between IT and OT.
  • NIS2 (EU directive on network and information security) This practice builds and runs the technical controls; our Governance, Risk & Compliance practice covers the governance side.
What do you run for clients, day to day?
  • Network operations centre (NOC) Our own NOC in Sofia, 24/7/365, run by a separate operations division of 80+ people, certified to ISO/IEC 20000-1.
  • Security operations centre and MDR (SOC, managed detection and response) Our own SOC in Sofia, 24/7/365. When it finds an attack, it hands the fix straight to our NOC: one cycle, one team.
  • SIEM as a service (Security information and event management) SIEM as a service on an open-source platform we operate. For a client's own SIEM we implement LogSentinel, Palo Alto Networks, Elastic (Select Partner, MSSP), Splunk and IBM, and we work with the one a client already has.
  • Network detection and response (NDR) We choose between Cisco, Vectra and NetWitness (Platinum Partner).
  • Incident response Response from our SOC, recovery by the engineers who know your systems, and the reporting NIS2 now requires.
  • Monitoring and observability Monitoring platforms run by our NOC, with dashboards for each client.
  • Managed services From monitoring to full operation as a service, hardware included. We do this worldwide for Lufthansa.
  • Field services Our own field engineers, including provisioning and commissioning for telecom operators.
  • IT service management (ITSM) ServiceNow implementation (Specialist Partner), and the same practices in our own NOC.
  • Asset inventory and CMDB (Configuration management database) Discovery tools and an inventory kept current. The same record drives our vulnerability matching.
  • Patch management Patch cycles run by our NOC, with testing and a way back.

Other questions

What does Enlayer’s IT Infrastructure & Cybersecurity practice do?

We design, build and run the IT an organisation sits on, from the server room and the cabling to the cloud, and the security around every part of it. Our own 24/7 NOC and SOC in Sofia run it afterwards.

Do you only sell technology, or do you also run it?

Both. The same company that designs a system operates it, to an agreed service level, with the engineers who built it still involved.

Which vendors do you work with?

More than 100 technology partners, most of them in this practice, plus open source. We keep at least two certified vendors in every layer and recommend what fits your goal and stage. The list changes all the time: if a vendor is not named, we most likely already work with them as partners, and if not, and it is the right one for you, we are willing to invest and learn it.

Is the SOC your own?

Yes. Our NOC and SOC are our own, in Sofia, staffed 24/7/365 by a separate operations division of 80+ people, with the whole organisation behind it. The SOC detects and investigates; the NOC carries out the fix.

Where do you work?

Our people are based in six countries: Bulgaria, Croatia, Germany, North Macedonia, Serbia and the United Kingdom. We deliver in 59 countries.

Can you help with NIS2?

Yes. This practice builds and runs the technical controls NIS2 expects, from identity and logging to incident response and reporting. Our Governance, Risk & Compliance practice covers the governance side.

Do you work with smaller organisations?

Yes. An engagement can start as small as an open-source proof and grow as far as the problem goes.

Where does AI fit?

Our engineers work with AI every day, with on-premises models where the data is sensitive. We also build and run the infrastructure AI needs; our AI & Software Engineering practice builds the AI applications on top.
